Book yearns to be adventurous and leave Library, but he’s worried about being torn or getting lost… until he meets Emma.
Emma is everything Book wants to be, and she shows Book there’s nothing to fear in the world outside Library (and a little tear here and there is really not so bad).
Scaredy Book by Devon Sillet and Cara King, published by EK Books, was launched in Canberra on the weekend at the stunningly beautiful Harry Hartog bookshop.
Entering Harry Hartog always feels like a big, warm hug! Surrounded by comfy armchairs, books galore, scrummy cookies and lovingly decorated cupcakes, guests were treated to a reading of Scaredy Book by author Devon Sillet.
With themes of resilience and friendship, Scaredy Book is a fantastic picture book for kids. It’s fun and funny and filled with beautiful language and vivid words. And the illustrations are simply divine.
I love a good book launch. To get the opportunity to hear an author read the words they wrote is something truly special. And they're fantastic events to take children to, not only because kids love books and story time, but also because they get the chance to meet the talented people who create the books they love so much.
If you live in Canberra, Harry Hartog in Westfield Woden holds book events and book launches regularly, so be sure to check their upcoming schedule for exciting bookish things to take the kids (or yourself) to.
